In-Between Times by Go Jimmy Go off the album Soul Arrival. Great song, great album, great band, though haven’t been able to get into their later stuff as much as this album.

True and Big Love from Two Tone Club off the album “Now Is The Time!” This is a French ska/reggae band that, despite the name really isn’t as “two tonish” in style — the band actually seems more traditional. I really liked this album a lot more than I expected to… and the opening ragtimey piano hook on this song is pretty cool (they should team up with Vic Ruggiero and do more ragtime reggae).

Sarah by The Slackers originally from “Better Late than Never.” I first saw The Slackers in 1993 at Wetlands, and this was one of the first songs they played and I was hooked. I’ve got everything they’ve ever put out and have seen them countless times in the last two decades. The version here is actually from the split EP they did with Pulley in 2004, rather than BLtN, since the recording is a lot better.

Mango Rock by the Determinations off the album Chat Chat Determination. The Determinations are a great Japanese band with a few fantastic albums. This is a short, simple but catchy, guitar-driven reggae song that I first heard on a live album (w/Prince Buster0, and used to like the live version better — but in listening to both right now, I think I actually like this version (the studio version) better.

Right Hand Man from the Debonaire’s album “Long Shout.” Yes, I’m sucker for good organ driven reggae.

Hot No Ho from the Lions album Jungle Struttin’. To be honest, this album was a bit more hit or miss than I had hoped, given the folks involved, but not this song. This is pure hit. I can listen to it over and over and over again.

The Aggrolites doing Firecracker from their fourth album, unimaginatively titled “IV.” Album title name aside, an excellent all around album, and a great opening track that brings in a bit o’ funk to mix with the reggae.

Chris Murray with 4th of July off of 4-Trackaganza. One of my favorite Chris Murray tracks, though, for some reason, it doesn’t get as much attention as some of his other songs.

The Gaylettes doing Silent River Runs Deep, one of my favorite Rocksteady tracks, which is popular for reggae bands with female lead singers to cover these days…

Ziggy Marley’s Ziggy Says from “Family Time” Ziggy Marley makes a “children’s album” that is actually a fantastic all around reggae album.
